Recovering Canadians are Healthy Canadians

There are more than 4 million Canadians in recovery from addiction, contributing to the health and well-being of our communities.  Best selling author, Ann Dowsett Johnston is one of them.  She takes a hard look at the stigma around the disease of addiction.  As well, she explores closing the gender gap on problematic drinking, the role of marketing, campus culture, plus socio-economic pressures influencing the way in which women drink. Her aim: to jumpstart a national dialogue on a public health challenge.

John Weston, MP - West Vancouver, Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky Country
John Weston, MP has spearheaded several health and substance-related initiatives, including two Private Members' Bills that became law (Tackling Crystal Meth and Ecstasy; National Health & Fitness Day).  He co-chairs the Conservative Caucus on Combating Substance Abuse and is heavily involved in efforts to deal with prescription drug abuse and to promote recovery from substance abuse.

Dr. Maire Durnin, MD, PhD, Msc, BA(Mod), CCFP (c) ISAM, ABAM, MRO
